This little gem should be required reading in education methods classes, and the first gift from principals to every new teacher.

There is no dearth of pedantic, theoretical, and philosophical tomes written for educators. Many are helpful. Most are a snooze. But Michele's cogent and practical advice is a welcome departure.

Her discussions on collaboration, effective grading procedures, and the social aspect of dealing with colleagues and principals, are topics seldom addressed in teacher preparation classes.

The book emphasizes goal-setting for the high-achieving classroom, but never loses the reader in the quagmire of impersonal theory. The strength of the work, however, is the author's warmth exhibited through her use of illustration, example, and anecdote.

This is a wonderful little handbook. It will serve as a compass for the new teacher, and a verification guide for old pros. The book may be the by-product of the author's frustration, but it will save untold misery to the novice teacher entering the real world of education, and it is a work I wish I'd owned twenty years ago.

This is a great resource for all teachers. It can be difficult to find someone to support you with the day to day grind of teaching in the classroom, this book is that help. I have used this more as a tool and guide to give me that support and insight in what I am experiencing as a teacher. I have been teaching for almost 10 years and it is amazing how little teachers really support one another with our own experiences. Great Job Michele!! It's like having another teacher in the room to give me that advice that we are all searching for to lead us to success in the classroom.

This is very helpful to just get you started as a new teacher. It has every topic imaginable and gives real advice that works.

This book was very tiny, but fun. It is a great reminder for why we are in the profession. I enjoyed it.
